I have owned a Bulldog for 7 years now... and I can tell you to just do alot of research research research!!! Bulldogs have to be babied to be successful and happy. You can't just turn a stud dog loose on your female - most bulldogs are artifically inseminated..at a veterinarian.. also when the babies are born. their shoulders are too wide. All Bulldogs have to have C-Section births done by the vet. While the mother is recovering from surgery you will have to hand feed and take care of the pups yourself for a few days - meaning cleaning up, feeding them, everything. It is alot to undertake. Just do alot of research and talk with some local vets in your area and your bulldog associations.
These are not dogs that you can just breed, wait for them to pop out babies then sell them... hehee!! I LOVE bulldogs though and I will always own them! Good luck!

My husband has always wanted a Bulldog, so when we found one he had to have her. I wasnt so sure at first, but it did not take more than a second to fall in love with her. She is the sweetest most lovable dog I know. We have three kids and they all get along so well.
I have talked to my vet and he doesnt do the inseminations so I have to travel to another vet out of town. We would like to breed her if it is possible and all of the conditons are right, however, if we dont that is just fine with us!
Thanks for your advice it really helped alot!

I had an English Bulldog for 7 years when suddenly he passed away after going into cardiac arrest following a surgery to remove a tumor on his spleen... I now am the proud owner of an Olde English Bulldogge and I love her to death. None of the health concerns of the english bulldogs and she has alot of the same personality! I love them!

I am just finishing up with a liter of English Bulldogs. My female went against all that is said about Bulldogs. She whelped on her own. Did not need a C-section. She was a natural cover. We had 7 healthy puppies. Two of which I still have if anyone is interested. She did great. I did keep the puppies separated from her. I got up every two hours and put the puppies with the mom. She did great. Breeding English Bulldogs is not for the faint of heart though. It was alot of work. I do agree with waiting until they are 18 mos. to 2 years to breed them though. I did alot of research and talked to my vet alot. I am an Animal Health Technician so I am some what knowledgeable. But my wife freaked out just about the whole time during the pregnancy and the whelping process. The owner if the male I used was a weath of knowledge also. It helps to have a network of support.

AWESOME!! I'd LOVEEEEE to have another English Bulldog, but unfortunately my job in law enforcement doesn't exactly pay very well to afford one. My bully was my SON and he died unexpectedly from a tumor on his spleen we had no idea about. I was a vet tech for a few years and thought I'd know the signs... but this was very silent...
I think I lived my whole life for that dog - even keeping the house alittle cooler than I like just for HIS comfort... yes he was spoiled!!!
I'll take donations for my bulldog fund! LOL!

The only way I afforded mine is I sold horse. She is a lot of fun though and I still have other horses so get the best of both sides.
I had an Austrailian Shepherd that developed a brain tumor. I fed her one day she was fine. went down the next day. She was involved in a full grand mull seizure. It hit that fast. Some times there just are not any signs.
